Modify partner and community attributes
After you create either a partner or community attribute, you can view and modify the settings for the attribute. The procedures are basically the same for partners and communities. The only difference is the menu navigation to get to the Manage partner and community attributes template page.
Use this procedure to view and modify the settings for the attribute for either a partner (navigation steps 1, 2, and 3) or a community (navigation steps 4, 5, and 6):
- For a partner, in the user interface, from the Partners menu, select a partner.
- At the top of the Partner Summary page is a navigation graphic for the partner. This graphic represents the parts of the partner and provides active links to pages on which you manage these parts.
- Select the Properties icon to display the Properties page for the partner you chose.
- Or for a community, in the user interface, from the Trading configuration menu, select a community.
- Select the Properties icon to display the Properties page for the community you chose.
- On the Properties page for either the partner or the community, change the value for one or more of the attributes on that page and select Save changes, or select Manage partner and community attributes template to open a template to modify or delete an attribute.
- Select an attribute to change from the list of attributes to display the Change an attribute field page.
- Modify one or more of the following fields:
- Make this a required attribute — you must enter a value if you select this check box. If a Partner Summary does not contain a particular mandatory value, a message displays on the Partner's Summary page: Fill in the required attributes. It is located under the heading: You must complete the following tasks before this partner can trade.
- Make available for searching — the search pages include an attribute name and value filter, so you can search for a particular object that has a particular Attribute value.
- Make available for message processing — you can configure a service, for example, to run only if a specific attribute/value is detected. For example, if the sender is JohnSmith, then the message is routed to a particular Partner, such as XYZPlumbing. In another example, if a map lacks a partner’s fax number, you can add an attribute named FaxNumber and add the fax number as the value. Then the number can be added to the document created by the map.
- This attribute is a list of values — Select this option if you want to restrict the selectable value or list of values. If you select this option, you must also complete the following two fields:
- Selection style — Select whether to display a single selectable value or a list of selectable values.
- Possible values — Enter the value or values that are available to select. Put each separate value on a new line. There is a limit of 255 characters per item in the list.
- Select Save.
