Work with specific protocols and standards > HTTP outbound proxy

HTTP outbound proxy

Activator enables you define an HTTP proxy for routing all outbound HTTP traffic. The proxy applies to a single community. Each community must set up its own.

If your infrastructure does not require HTTP traffic to navigate a proxy to access the Internet, you do not need to use this feature.

Proxies are “one-hop” by nature, so if you set up an HTTP proxy, it overrides any other proxy definitions that your partners may have set up. If you know that one or more of your partners use a proxy for incoming HTTP connections, you should not use an HTTP proxy or work with your partner to establish some other connection method.

To set up the HTTP proxy, click HTTP proxy in the navigation graphic on the community summary page.

HTTP proxy fields

The following describes the proxy fields on the Configure HTTP proxy page.

Selecting a proxy when testing an HTTP transport

When testing an HTTP transport for sending messages to a partner, you are prompted to select the community whose proxy settings are to be used for the test. You are prompted to select a community regardless whether an outbound proxy has not been set up within the community.

Select a community to proceed with the test. The displayed test results indicate the success or failure of the connection.

The following steps provide the navigation for performing a test.

  1. Click Partner delivery on the navigation graphic at the top of a partner summary page.
  2. Click Test in the right column for the HTTP transport you want to test. This action starts the test.
  3. Select a community to proceed with the test.
