The search results page has controls for customizing the display of message data (see Message Tracker search controls). But there are other options for viewing detailed information.
The most comprehensive option is to click the Details link for a message. This action opens a message details page organized by tabs. These pages provide a large amount of information about traded messages. For more information see Message details tabbed pages.
Another option is to place your cursor over the Details link and wait two seconds until a pop-up window displays. Initially, these pop-ups do not display any data. But you can choose message attributes to display. The pop-ups are a quick way to view attributes and values related to messages without opening the message details tabbed pages. For more information see Search results attributes in pop-up windows.
Once search results are displayed, you can view message details on tabbed pages. Click Details to open the message details page for the selected payload or receipt.
Trading activity information is provided on the following tabs. If a search finds more than one message, click the Next and Previous buttons at the bottom of each tab to scroll through messages.
This tab identifies the message type and status (delivered, negative response, failed, in process, waiting for receipt, resubmitted). It also reports the message direction (for example, inbound from a partner or outbound to a partner). If a failed message, a reason is given at the bottom of the tab.
Links are provided for viewing and downloading the message payload.
Adding notes to message records
On the document summary tab, you can click Add a note to type notes regarding the message. The tab also displays messages that were added earlier and lets you change or delete notes.
Searching for or displaying notes
If you want to search for user-authored notes about messages or display notes in a column on the search results page, do the following:
This tab graphically shows the processing steps for the message. It also provides details about signing, encryption, compression and whether there was a receipt for the message. If you back up copies of messages, the name of the backed up file is given.
This tab reports metadata specific to ebXML messages. The information is view-only. Use the Message attributes tab to perform metadata searches.
This tab only displays for an ebXML message. If you do not process ebXML messages, this tab does not display.
This tab reports metadata specific to RosettaNet messages. The information is view-only. Use the Message attributes tab to perform metadata searches.
This tab only displays for an RosettaNet message. If you do not process RosettaNet messages, this tab does not display.
This tab provides the dates and times for events related to a message’s processing history.
This tab reports values for metadata attributes related to messages. You can use the metadata to perform narrower message searches based on specific values.
Some of the metadata on this tab is self-explanatory (for example, Direction, ReceiverRoutingId, SenderRoutingId). Other metadata may seem esoteric. Also, the list of data can vary depending on the message type. You may find this tab provides more information than needed for monitoring normal message traffic. But if you are working with technical support to troubleshoot an issue, support may refer you to this tab for information. This metadata also may be helpful for users who employ APIs to manipulate message metadata or who exchange messages via the ebXML message protocol.
The table on this tab shows the metadata names or the attribute names. A metadata name is the name Activator uses internally. An attribute name is a friendly name for a metadata element. For example, ConsumptionUrl is the metadata name and Consumption URL is the attribute name. You can toggle between name types by clicking Show metadata names and Show attribute names.
You can select metadata to include in a new search, and you can include the metadata element in saved searches. If you clear the check box for Find messages originating within the last [n] days, the new search includes all dates. The default number of days for this option can be changed (see Manage Message Tracker default search settings).
When search results are displayed you can place the cursor over a Details link and wait two seconds for a pop-up window to appear. You can specify message attributes and values to display in the pop-up. The pop-ups are a quick way to view attributes and values related to messages without opening the message details tabbed pages.
Initially, these pop-ups do not display any data. But you can choose message attributes to display. This feature is engaged by default but can be disabled.
You can close a pop-up window by moving the cursor outside the window and left-clicking once, or click Close inside the window.
You select the attributes you want to display in the pop-ups on a page in the user interface titled, “Select attributes for pop-up windows.” Attributes are organized by tabs in the available attributes section of the page.
Although there are many attributes from which to choose, we suggest selecting only a few of the ones most helpful to you. Remember, all attributes you select display in the pop-ups, regardless whether a value exists for a given attribute. The idea is to select attributes common to many of the messages you look up in Message Tracker.
To select attributes to display in the pop-up windows on Message Tracker search results pages:
Either action opens the page titled, “Select attributes for pop-up windows.”
The attributes you select apply only to you and not to other users. After selecting the attributes you want, click Save. Go back to the Message Tracker search results page and place the cursor over a Details link until a pop-up window displays.
You can disable the pop-up windows by selecting Disable message attribute pop-up window on the message tracker search results page and clicking Save.
Users associated with roles granting administrator permissions have access to a broader range of controls on the Select attributes for pop-up windows page. Non-administrative users cannot see these controls.
In addition to selecting attributes for their own use in the available attributes section at the top of the page, administrators can make changes affecting themselves and all other users. These are:
